One of the most impactful things I’ve watched all year. I caught it on a list on LinkedIn for leveling up one’s life, and now am including and recommending it here.
The way that the filmmakers lay out their case caused me to take a deep dive internally, and come out the other side more changed than I’ve been in a long time when the credits rolled on a film. Highly, highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a dose of profound perspective.

It’s female “Boogie Nights.” But with a harsh realism that leaves you with a sense of discomfort and confusion by the end about the purpose of the film. But that may also be the purpose of the film. It’s a coin flip.

Man can’t get his fellow physicians to believe in germ theory. Gets fired from his job at the hospital.
Man joins a women’s medicine clinic, treating “hysteria” by providing orgasms by hand.
Man injures said hand due to a busy practice.
Man develops the mechanical-electric vibrator after his roommate’s electric muscle massager helps cure his hand and sparks an idea.
I kid you not… that’s the premise of this movie. Loosely based on the life of Joseph Mortimer Granville. Wrapped in a tale of women’s rights and progression of liberalization of a traditional, puritan European culture. It’s just as wild as it sounds, and far better than expected at first glance.
Maggie Gyllenhaal absolutely kills it as a revolutionary who takes over every scene she’s in, and delights as the incomparable Charlotte. A rather stimulating film, if I do say so myself.

True to the title, it’s just 90 minutes of the life and times of a dairy cow.
WARNING – It may not be suitable for children. It includes the beginning and end of the life of a dairy cow, if you catch my drift. It was a much more visceral experience than I expected.

Much better than I was expecting!
I don’t think we learn a lot more about any of the characters involved. Tommy Lee is pretty much who you assume him to be. However, it was in the depth and perspective this miniseries paid to Pamela Anderson where it really shined. The perspective of the differences in the effect on their careers, personal lives, and outlook on life. The differences between being a man or a woman included in a sex tape gone public were deftly handled, which surprised me. It’s perfectly cast and surprisingly well-done. Bravo to the Hulu Originals team.
