“One of the Guys”

7.7

Sleeper hit from the 80’s. Solid JV squad film.

Brother is a total creep, good lord. Just a walking red flag. Teri tries out life as a guy after getting shot down as a girl for her dream job. Learns things aren’t always as they seem, falls in love. The usual.

Billy Zabka plays the bad guy with perfect hair. Pure 80’s.

“The Men Who Stare At Goats”

8.8

Jedi Warriors? Tax dollars well spent!

One of George Clooney’s all-time great performances.

One of my all-time sleeper hit movies.

What seems like an incredibly juvenile fantasy turns out to contain innumerable kernels of wisdom if you’re willing to give yourself over to it—cinematic spiritual enlightenment at its finest. On my Mount Rushmore along with JAWS and Hot Tub Time Machine.

Also, you can’t go wrong with any track on the soundtrack. They all rock, and they all transport your spirit to the exact right spot to receive the film’s full impact.

“Shaun of the Dead”

7.9

Brilliant!

I’d like to think this is how I would handle the zombie apocalypse.

The perfect balance of horror and comedy. Great special effects, great acting, a great script. And it all ends at the pub. In the vein of other Simon Peg masterpieces, such as “At World’s End,” a legendary addition to zombie canon.
