Such a bizarre love triangle, with the backdrop of a literary competition… I didn’t expect it to work as well as it did. A little cliche, but with enough charm to carry it across the finish line. You almost won’t mind the French.

A little “American Pie,” a little “Red Rocket”… I didn’t hate it. A few genuine laughs, and a solid runtime. All you can ask out of a movie like this.

A prime example of why “I think you should leave” is a sketch show. You stretch that out too long, and the cracks begin to show. 20 or so brilliant moments strung together by nonsensical narrative. I really wanted to love this, but ended up cringing by the end. So many genius laughs… just in the wrong format. Tim Robinson is meant to be enjoyed in smaller doses.

Take your blood pressure meds before going in for this one… It’s a rough watch. If you enjoy sensory overload, this will be up your alley. Front to back, it’s an assault on the senses with small blips of relief where they almost develop a sense of kinship before being bombarded again. You’ll need a cooldown afterwards. That being said, it’s a solid war flick.

I was highly skeptical of this one going in. Unsure if it would be too thin a premise to support the runtime, leaving me loathing my choice of movie for the week. It pleasantly surprised me! The relationship hit me as genuine, the setup worked remarkably well to establish believability, and the tension could be cut with a knife almost the entire perfectly balanced runtime. Really well done!
