Hey, I get it. “The Godfather” film itself, let alone the trilogy, is a serious commitment.
A solid studio comedy leveraging the endless charm of Toni Collette and a strong script riffing on “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “Eat, Pray, Love.”

I personally prefer “Happy Death Day” or “Freaky” from this “fun-horror” genre… but this one was solid! Exactly what I wanted out of it. A tight, hour and a half horror movie that was incredibly fun, made me laugh, and made me feel nostalgic, a la “Stranger Things.” Also, I’m a sucker for time travel movies, so I knew this wasn’t going to sit in the watchlist for long…

I don’t know why I got my hopes up, but I did. This movie’s rotten tomatoes score is bananas. It’s a killer sloth. There’s nothing much past that. Better than “Black Christmas,” I guess? If you enjoy slashers, especially those set around the slaughter of sorority girls, then you’ll enjoy this one. That being said, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds. Sloth going full Wolverine, slicing and dicing everyone in its path was not on my 2023 bingo card, yet here we are.

If you liked “The Hangover” trilogy or “Girls’ Night Out,” you’ll like this one. The cast is perfection, and the third act will pack much more of a punch than your expecting. You won’t see the shedding a tear from heartfelt closure coming from this one.

This would have made a killer double feature alongside “Bottoms.” The characters here are insane, but by god are they fun. Sadly, no one comes out of the lake or woods with a large bladed weapon to start taking people out. The villain here is private equity and preppy kids. The underdog vibes here are strong. The overall vibes are strong. It’s a musically inclined twist on “Wet Hot American Summer.” Hits every note you want it to, and given the reaction of the crowd I enjoyed this one alongside, it really nails the aesthetic of real life theater camp.
Also, no one plays a loveable dumb guy like Jimmy Tatro. Between this and “The Machine,” he’s building his career on this pigeon hole.
