Brett’s Movie Reviews After Dark… (cue funky bass line)

Is this brilliance? Is this lunacy? One thing’s for sure – Boobs. And… boobs. This is one wild ride, darlin’.

The wholesome story of a small town girl turned Vegas legend? A razor sharp wit filled tale of the dark side of fame and fortune. A movie that almost takes itself so serious that it comes full circle to become parody? All of the above.

For sure, one of the strangest films you will ever see this side of “The Room.” Also a warning that “Saved by the Bell” will never be the same.

DEFINITELY NOT for children, or for the faint of heart. Here’s to my first post that gets taken down on social media. Cheers!

Not really sure what to make of this one…

Part stranger things, part by the numbers psychological thriller. All strange. Some interesting scenes that leave you genuinely uncomfortable. No true scares, per se, but a great deal of discomfort. Interesting entry in the Shudder Original collection.

“Desperados”

Netflix rom-com… can’t go wrong.

A hilarious tale of revenge, love, calamity, and friendship. Checks all the boxes without blatantly being cheesy. Lamorne Morris kills it as the friend who successfully converts on 4th and long to become the love interest in the end. A touch too silly and outrageous at times, but overall, just the light-hearted fun you look for in these movies.

“Palm Springs”

That was a fun hour and a half! This may be my favorite “Groundhog Day” / “We get stuck in a time loop” movie. I am thoroughly impressed. Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti (the mom from “How I Met Your Mother”) have legitimate chemistry and rock both the romantic and comedy of this rom-com for the ages! JK Simmons has the cameo of the summer. Everything about this is a win. An all around fun movie, with a lot of heart and a lot of laughs. Here’s to finding that special someone you’d get stuck in an infinite time loop with.

“Love Life”

They had me at Anna Kendrick. A modern love saga telling the tales of dating in 2020. All the crazy, fun, and awkwardness. A great kickoff series for HBO Max. Adorkable to the max.

The emotional journey caught me a bit off guard, and really came together in the end. I can’t wait to see where this goes if there’s a next season. “Sex and the City” updated for millennials. Get ready to shout “just break up already” and “yas girl” at the screen way more than you’d expect of yourself.
